Rachelle Pike

Rachelle Pike is a 23 year old mezzo soprano currently in her honours year ofher Bachelor of Music majoring in Performance Voice at Canterbury University where she studies under Dame Malvina Major. She was a 2006/2007 PricewaterhouseCoopers Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist with NBR New Zealand Opera and the recipient of the Circle 100 scholarship. Her recent engagements include Mercedes in Carmen with Southern Opera, NZ composer Anthony Richie's The God Boy for Canterbury University, minor understudy roles in Gounod's Faust and Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor for NBR NZ Opera andSummer Matinee and Christmas performances with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra. Miss Pike appears next in the title role of The Medium for Canterbury University.
