Born and raised in Christchurch, Andrew has been singing since childhood. A high school music teacher encouraged him totakesinging more seriously and he studied voice at the University of Canterburyunder Vernon Midgley. He recently graduated with aBachelor of Music with Honours.
Andrew sings a wide variety of choral, concert and opera repertoire. His work includes the role of Jimmy Sullivanin the2006 Platform Arts Festival production of Anthony Ritchie's God Boy, Rachmaninoff Vespers for the Christchurch City Choir, andPilate in Arvo Pärt's Passio with youth choral group, Cantores. At present most of his singing energies are devoted to the Christchurch Cathedral Choir, which toured England in July and August of this year.
He is currentlyconsidering options for overseas studies.Hewill continueto pursue a solo and choral career path in theshort term, and in the long term would like to specialise in the lighter tenor roles of the operatic repertoire. |
